Heartbreak for kiltale

Kiltale's brave bid for the Leinster Club IHC title ended in disappointment in Navan today when Kilkenny champions Mullinavat carved out a hard-earned 1-13 to 0-13 victory in a thrilling game that was in the balance until the final whistle.

Kiltale started well and raced into a 0-3 to 0-0 lead and then recovered to tie the scores at 0-6 apiece before trailing by 0-7 to 1-8 at the interval.

Mullinavat's 28th minute goal ultimately made the difference but Kiltale matched their opponents point-for-point in the second-half, but just couldn't make that final push for victory.

'That was the toughest game we had this year, we are delighted to get out of Navan with a win, there's plenty to like about Meath hurling based on that performance,' stated Mullinavat manager Declan Wall.

Kiltale manager Brian Gilsenan, who stood down from the position after the game, was very disappointed, but he was also proud of the players.

'The target now for the players is to get back to this stage next year and win the title,' he commented.
