Big turnout for trim celtic celebrations
There was a big turnout of parents and youngsters in Trim today as local soccer club, Trim Celtic held an 'Open Day' to mark their achievement in winning the Aviva FAI Club of the Year award.
The youngsters, many dressed in the club's green and white hoops, accompanied their parents on a march through the town with the Celtic Drummers leading the way.
Also in the vanguard of the march were a group of officials including FAI Chief Exectuive John Delaney and the North East Football League secretary Gerry Gorman as well as Trim Celtic FC chairman David Tully, LFA President Tony O'Dowd and club official Brian McCreary.
Later there was a mass exodus out to the home of the club at Tully Park where a plaque was unveiled by John Delaney and David Tully to mark Trim Celtic's achievement in winning the award.
Coaching sessions were also conducted by club coaches on the Tully Park pitches on what was a cold but bright morning.
Trim Celtic won the overall Aviva FAI Club of the Year title at the FAI's annual meeting last July and the €5,000 prize.
The search for the next winners of the Aviva FAI Club of the Year was also officially launched.
