Twins in winning form on home turf
The Fox twins, otherwise known as Anthony and Ger Fox from Ardcath, enjoyed a good week on home turf over the last few days with a winner each – Anthony was on the mark at Fairyhouse on Wednesday and Ger was in the winners' enclosure at Navan today.
Anthony's winner at Fairyhouse was on board Ardmillan, one of the winners he rode at Down Royal on the day that twins recorded that unique double on 26th December last.
At Fairyhouse this week Ardmillan won a handicap chase and benefited from a patient ride, as per the trainer's instructions.
'I'm riding out full-time for Stuart Crawford (trainer of Ardmillan) and he is giving me plenty of opportunities, it's great to be able to repay him with a winner,” commented Anthony Fox.
At Navan today Ger Fox made the most of a spare ride when he deputised for an injured Paul Carberry (broken ribs) and won a maiden hurdle for his boss Noel Meade with Snow Falcon.
Ger Fox hit the front at the second last hurdle and kept Snow Falcon going for a six-length winning margin over Speed Demon.
Carberry was sidelined after he fractured a rib following a fall at Leopardstown last weekend.
Also at Navan today, Noel Meade's former head man-turned trainer, Andy Lynch from Dunsany was in the winners' enclosure when Robbie Colgan partnered Zabana to register a fourth win over hurdles for owner Chris Jones – a trip to Cheltenham could be on the agenda next.
