Better late than never for happy navan lotto couple

It was a case of better late than never for a lucky Navan couple who only discovered at the weekend they'd won a six-figure Lotto prize back in December. 

It’s been a special day for lucky Dublin and Meath players who have claimed EuroMillions and Lotto prizes worth a total €702,333 at National Lottery HQ.

The happy couple from Navan walked away from the Lottery offices in Dublin €350,000 richer having collected their Lotto Plus 1 top prize. They purchased their €4 Quick Pick ticket in Tesco in Navan Town Centre on 17th December 2014.

The couple, who wish their win to remain a private one and only married a few years ago, said: 'We only found out we'd won this last Sunday morning.'

The delighted wife said: 'I checked in the store and thought I'd won €35,000, so I went home to my husband, and I said: 'We've won €17,000 each. He then looked it up on Aertel and said: 'You're a daft woman. We've won €350,000! The difference a few noughts can make!'

Her husband chuckled: 'We're spending some of it on maths classes for herself, so she doesn't make the same mistake again when we win big next time!'

The winners have a few plans for the win, including paying off bills, going on holiday and 'making some timely investments'.
