Shane mcentee gets call to lead meath u21s
Meath u-21 manager Sean Barry has opted for talented young Dunboyne player Shane McEntee to captain the team this year as they seek to land a Leinster crown.
Meath take on Westmeath in their opening game in the Leinster u-21 FC on Wednesday 4th March at Pairc Tailteann.
McEntee was involved with the Meath minors in 2011 and 2012 when they were defeated by Dublin in Leinster and All-Ireland finals respectively.
He was also part of the Royal County u-21 set up last year when they again lost out to Dublin (0-10 to 0-15) in the Leinster final at Portlaoise.
Meath have endured a series of disappointing results in the Hastings Cup so far this year and manager Barry will be looking for a big improvement in form if they are to make an impact in the championship.
There is also concern over an injury to Meath hurling captain Sean Heavey who is doubtful for the county's next outing in the NFL Div 2B at Castlebar on Saturday.
This is a must win game now for the Royal County after their defeat to Kildare last Sunday.
