Dunshaughlin players features in croatia
Luke Wade-Slater from Dunshaughlin played for the Republic of Ireland u-17 team in the second of two friendlies against Croatia in Zagreb yesterday where the hosts won narrowly (2-1).
Managed by former North Eastern Counties Schoolboys' League representative player Tom Mohan, the u-17s lost the first game by the odd goal in a seven-goal thriller after battling back for a four-goal deficit at one stage on Tuesday.
“It was disappointing for the lads not to get something out of the game because they deserved something for their efforts. The incident in the last minute of the game summed things up as Trevor Clarke was taken down in the box and is taken to hospital for an x-ray but the referee gives a free out,” said Mohan.
“The positive is that we got a really good look at a lot of players this week against quality opposition and that’s what it was about. We have food for thought now ahead of the qualifiers next month.
