St michaels loreto dig deep to edge out munster side
Another final beckons for St Michael's, Loreto, Navan after they defeated St Augustine's, Dungarvan 3-14 to 1-13 in the All-Ireland PPS Senior B semi-final at Crettyard today.
This was a demanding encounter for the Navan school who had to dig deep into their reserves of energy and resolve to win.
With the help of a stiff breeze St Michael's led 1-10 to 1-5 at the break with Roisin Commons finding the net for the Meath school and Kaeisha Tobin replying for the Waterford side.
A measure of just how close the teams were during much of that opening half could be seen in the way they were level three times.
St Michael's had particular problems in dealing with the pace and skill of Tobin until Niamh Cassidy was moved out to mark her.
Against the wind St Michael's had to absorb a great deal of pressure in the second-half.
They defended well and were also capable of launching attacks. It was from one of those that Tara Berigan netted a superb second goal for the Meath side.
In the closing stages Lauryn Grier fired low to the net for a match-cliniching third.
Stacey Grimes played a big part in the win with her range of passing and she capped her display with six points with Grier matching that tally with 1-3.
