Day to forget for meath hurling
This was a bad a day for Meath hurlers as they slumped to a two-point (1-15 to 1-17) defeat against Armagh in the NHL Div 2B at Trim this afternoon.
Finishing with 13 men after Jack Regan (43 mins) and Eoin Marsh (69 mins) both collected two yellow cards each just made it even worse.
Meath were ahead by a point - 0-10 to 0-9, at the interval and even after the departure of Regan still held a 0-13 to 0-10 advantage with 15 minutes remaining.
Mickey Dunne's goal in added time gave Meath a 1-15 to 0-17 lead, but Armagh rallied and found the Meath net 30 seconds later.
If Meath beat Down next Sunday they will qualify for the final, but a series of unusual results next Sunday could plunge Meath into a relegation play-off to avoid dropping to the fifth tier - NHL Div 3A.
