Local players set for u21 game against andorra
Local players Dylan Connolly and Darragh Lenihan are in the Republic of Ireland panel for tomorrow night's UEFA U-21 Championships 2017 Qualifying Round Group One game against Andorra in Waterford, 7.45pm.
Head coach Noel King has made a new addition to his backroom staff with former Chelsea goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini joining the squad for the game at Waterford RSC.
Cudicini recently undertook his UEFA B licence with the Football Association of Ireland and will fill the vacant goalkeeper coaching role with the U-21s for this fixture following the retirement of Alan O’Neill from the position.
King is focused on getting the campaign off to a positive start on Thursday when they start the campaign to qualify for the 2017 UEFA U21 Championships which will take place in Poland.
“We have Andorra at home and the expectation is to win the game. That’s the expectation, but we have to approach
it in the right way to make sure we win the game,' said King.
