Meydan magic for lynam with sole power
Dunshaughlin-based trainer Eddie Lynam landed another big victory with the speedster Sole Power which won at Group One level for the fifth time today at Meydan in the Al Quoz Sprint with a late surge in the five-furlong event.
The win is even more admirable as Sole Power was 12th of 16 on his first appearance of the season at Meydan earlier this month and this was one of the strongest fields the Al Quoz Sprint had ever attracted.
With top jockey Richard Hughes on board, Sole Power challenged late to edge out Peniaphobia in the final few strides after Amber Sky set a fast pace.
Sole Power was settled towards the backbefore making the usual late charge to win from Peniaphobia and Green Mask.
'This horse deserves more recognition, he has been competing at the top level for five seasons and I knew when I moved out a furlong and a half out we were in with a massive chance,' commented the jockey.
'On his day, he was always capable of doing it. If I could, I'd love him to do it at Royal Ascot as well.' commented the trainer.
