Stable staff award for martin horan

Martin Horan from Kilmessan has won the Leadership Award at the Irish Stud and Stable Staff Awards sponsored by Godolphin. Martin has worked as Head Lad for leading trainer Ger Lyons at his Glenburnie Stables in Kiltale, Dunsany, since he was 13-years-old.

Martin was commended for his excellent horsemanship and for being a good role model for the younger members of the team, always available to offer help and advice. He received a trophy, €5,000 and €4,000 for employees in the yard.

The 11th running of the awards and the first sponsored by Godolphin was held at the Keadeen Hotel in Newbridge on Tuesday, April 14th. The trophies were presented by 19-time UK Champion National Hunt Jockey AP McCoy. Simon Coveney TD, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine was guest of honour for the event and Jonathan Mullin, Irish Editor of the Racing Post, was MC for the occasion.
