Stamuelln set for bank holiday opening of gaa sports complex
The Meath and Down senior football teams will play in Stamullen over the May bank holiday weekend to mark the official opening and blessing of the St Patrick's club grounds and complex.
The game to inaugurate the new pitches will throw in at 3pm on Sunday 3rd May. This is a repeat of the two teams who played at Whyte Park in 1981 when the facilities and grounds were revamped at that time.
Events on the day will start at 1pm with the blessing of the grounds and sports complex by Bishop Michael Smith, Bishop of Meath, with Father Declan Kelly, PP Stamullen and Rev Peter Rutherford, Rector, Church of Ireland Julianstown.
The blessing will be followed by the unveiling of a plaque by Iar Uachtarain GAA Liam O’Neill, and Meath County Board chairman, Conor Tormey who will declare the Complex officially open.
The Kentstown and Seneschalstown Accordion Band will lead a parade of the St Patrick’s underage teams which will showcase the tremendous work being done at underage level within the club. The band will also lead out the Meath and Down teams.
St Patrick’s GAA Club players who have represented Meath and won senior All Ireland Medals representing the county will be honoured at half time.
Later in the night the club will host a Dance in the sports hall with music by Timezone.
