Massive roller coaster to open next week
The largest inverted wooden roller coaster in Europe, the heart-stopping Cuchulainn Coaster, will open at Tayto Park, near Ashbourne, on Friday 5th June.
The gigantic coaster, which covers 1.3km in two-and-half minutes, turning loops and featuring a stomach-churning drop zone of 29 metres, is part of an overall investment of €26 million in a series of new attractions at the theme park at Kilbrew.
Tayto Park owner Ray Coyle said this week that he is expecting between 650,000 and 700,000 visitors to the park this year and will employ 300 people at the peak of the season, as well as 50 full-time year-round staff.
The Cuchulainn Coaster has a strong Irish mythological theme and is not only Europe’s largest inverted wooden coaster, but also the only one of its kind in Europe.
