New town plan could transform kells
A major town design plan for Kells, which would see a significant change in the look of the town as well as its traffic flow, is to be considered by Kells Local Heroes.
The group is now to explore in detail the possibility of commissioning a major new plan for Kells which, if adopted, would see a major transformation of traffic management in the town and the look of the buildings and streets.
The ultimate objective would be boosting daily trade, footfall traffic and developing economic growth and social activity in the locality.
The initiative comes following a highly successful planning conference held in the town last Thursday night, which was attended by over 200 people, including traders, local politicians, representatives from various bodies in the county and members of the public.
According to Kells Local Heroes chairman, Ken Murray, “the conference surpassed our expectations in terms of the numbers who attended, but moreso in the very encouraging message we heard from our guest speakers.
“The reaction from all present was remarkably positive, enthusiastic and upbeat. Kells, because of its unique heritage, has so much to offer in terms of attracting tourists and visitors who can be persuaded to do business in the town,” he said.
