No silverware for meath dunderry and na fianna girls happy
There wasn't any joy for Meath camogie teams at Nowlan Park today, but the girls from Na Fianna and Dunderry (see video clip) who participated in the half-time games certainly enjoyed their day out and the Dunderry crew were spotted getting ready to invade a fast-food outlet on the way home from the Kilkenny venue.
Two Meath teams were in action at the top class Kilkenny stadium where the conditions were excellent for camogie in the triple header.
Meath's second team lost out to carlow in the Leinster Junior Camogie final by 0-0 to 6-23. Meath's second team play in Div 4 while Carlow (first team) will play in Div 2 next year after they won the League Div 3 title earlier this year.
Meath were also without a number of regulars to to exams and injuries.
Meath's first team was in in action in the Leinster Intermediate Camogie decider and they were edged out in a thriller by four points as they lost (1-9 to 1-13) against a strong Kilkenny second team.
Both Meath teams will now begin preparations for their respective All-Ireland championships with games scheduled at the end of June /beginning July.
The girls from the Dunderry and Na Fianna clubs enjoyed the day as they got to play on the excellent Nowlan Park pitch during half-time in the two games. Na Fianna played Naomh Bhride and Dunderry played Ballinkillen at half-time in the junior game and two other teams from Dunderry and Na Fianna played Kilkenny opposition at half-time in the intermediate game.
All the young players proided great support for Meath.
The third game at Nowlan park was the senior Leinster final between Kilkenny and Offaly.
