Loughcrew gardens coffee shop hit by burglary
A valuable coffee machine and a freezer full of ice-cream, as well as a flat screen television, a laptop and a safe were among the items stolen from the coffee shop at Loughcrew Gardens, Oldcastle, in a burglary this week.
The theft occurred sometime between 6.30pm last night when the premises was locked up, and was discovered just before 9am this morning when staff came to open up.
The chains on the smaller entrance gate near the church were cut and the culprits drove right up to the coffee shop.
They broke through the back doors and disconnected the coffee machine and its water supply. The machine was a Gaggia LCD and grinder which costs around €4,500 to buy new. The machine had a serial number and anyone offered a machine like this for sale in suspicious circumstances should contact gardai.
The thieves also stole bags of coffee, two microwaves, an ice cream freezer with ice cream in it and cans of soft drinks. They also unscrewed a flat screen television from the wall.
An iPod and docking station were also taken along some cakes, knives and kitchen utensils. A laptop and safe were taken from the office and a desk was ransacked as they searched for money. Two chainsaws and two barbecues were also stolen.
Oldcastle Gardai are investigating the incident and are appealing to anyone with information on the burglary or who noticed suspicious activity to contact them.
