Motorcyclist removed by helicopter at crossakiel
There was a big turn out of spectators for the main action of the Kells Road Races around the compact Crossakiel circuit this afternoon with some local success added into the mix of one accident.
It is understood that the competitor was taken to hospital by helicopter ambulance but at this stage no further details are available on that incident.
The action started last Friday evening in Kells with the charity run and yesterday there was practice for the competitors with a couple of races tagged on in the evning time.
The crowds turned out in large numbers today for the main action and the club officials made appeals on social media yesterday for extra volunteers to assist with the huge number of duties required to organise such an event.
Club chairman Lester Ferguson thanked all the local landowners for their co-operation as well as all the volunteers, medical people, Gardai, Civil Defence and the sponsors who were all listed in the programme for the weekend that was on sale throughout the weekend.
