Third for ted at galway

Tony Martin's Ted Veale was edged out of the winners enclosure in the big race at Galway tonight when the Jessica Harrington-trained Modem took the spoils for Clonee owner Turlough Blessing.

Ted Veale was prominent on the outside into the straight and had every chance but was unable to overhaul the leader and finished third, a neck and a half-length away with the John Oxx-trained Awesome Star in second place.

Racing continues at Galway tomorrow with the feature event the Topaz Mile at 6.50pm.

Ger Lyons has five runners in the race with Colin Keane on the fancied Unsinkable, but at this stage the favourite is likely to be the Dermot Weld-trained Stay De Night
