Kilmessan trainer wins at galway

Kilmessan trainer Matthew Smith got a Galway winner on the board at Ballybrit this evening when he won the beginners' chase with the front-running Empresario with Mark Enright on board.

The jockey made the running and was in front approaching the second last as the field closed up to lauch a challenge.

However,Empresario held off about six challengers - Tavern Times, Hash Brown, Vaxalco, Guitar Pete, The Herds Garden and Steps To Freedom and won by two lengths.

'That's my first win at the Festival although I've only had a few runner, he is entered up on Sunday and we'll have to have a look at it,' commented the delighted Kilmessan trainer.
