Treacy set for monday qualifying

The IAAF World Championships started today in the Bird’s Nest Stadium in Beijing with an Irish squad of 16 including Meath athlete Sara Treacy.

Treacy is a winner of the Meath Chronicle / Cusack Hotel Group Sportsperson of the month for February and will be in action on Monday morning (2.45am irish time) in the qualifying heats for the Women's 3,000m steeplechase.

Joining Treacy (Dunboyne AC) in the qualifying heats will be Kerry O’Flaherty (Newcastle) Michelle Finn (Leevale).

Treacy enjoyed a good weekend at the National Track and Fields Championships at the beginning of August where she won the 3,000m steeplechase and the 1,500m.

There was an added bonus for Treacy with the announcement that she made the Irish team for the World Athletics Championships in China.
