Boardsmill face relegation playoff
Longwood produced a remarkable 0-19 to 1-5 victory over Boardsmill at Trim on Friday evening to preserve their SHC status with their first win of the campaign at the last hurdle.
There were all sorts of probable outcomes prior to Friday’s Group A matches, but Longwood’s mission was clear - win by 10 points or more and they were safe.
Having recorded an outstanding win over Kilmessan in the previous round it was difficult to envisage Boardsmill losing by 10 points against a Longwood side that that had a minus 53 scoring difference from their previous four games.
A win for Boardsmill would have left them safe regardless of results elsewhere, but now they face a relegation play-off against Rathmolyon
