Local bars in contention for sky bar of the year title
Three local bars and a nightclub have been shortlisted in the 2015 Sky Bar of the Year Awards. The Central Bar Navan, Ryans Bar Navan and the Kelltic Bar, Kells, made the shortlist, along with the Palace Navan.
Now in their 10th year, the awards recognise excellence in the licensing trade industry. New to the awards in 2015 was the introduction of ‘panel judged’ categories where a team of four expert judges visited licences premises around Ireland to site inspect entrants, while six of the categories are based on a public vote.
The winners will be announced at the 10th Annual awards ceremony, on September 7th at The Mansion House, Dublin, hosted by Newstalks Tom Dunne. The overall title of Sky Bar of the Year will also be announced on the night.
The Central Bar in Navan leads the way as finalists in seven categories including Gin Bar of the Year sponsored by Dingle Distillery, Innovative Bar of the Year, Leinster Bar of the Year, Local Bar of the Year, Music Venue of the Year, Outside Space of the Year and Outstanding Customer Service Award.
Two Meath bars, The Central Bar, Navan, and the Kelltic Bar, Kells, are in contention for the Leinster Bar of the Year, which is decided by public vote.
Both the Central Bar and the Kelltic Bar are also finalists in the ‘Music Venue of the Year’ category sponsored by iRadio, which is decided by a public vote.
Ryans Bar was shortlisted in the Best Modern Irish Cooking in a Bar sponsored by Burren Smoked Salmon, while manager Damien Clarke is a finalist in the Bar Manager of the Year category.
The Palace Navan has been shortlisted in the Nightclub of the Year category which is based on public votes.
