Pink riders battle of bullocks and duck derbies
For those not bound for Croke Park or Twickenham this weekend, there's plenty on around the county.
Pink Ribbon Cycle
The village of Moynalty will be decked out in a sea of Pink on Saturday 5th September for the annual Pink Ribbon Cycle, a ladies only event which once again raises money for the National Breast Cancer Research Institute. The event which is organised and run every year by Moynalty Cycling Club has a 30km easy route and a harder 75km route followed by some of the best home cooked food, cake and buns in the country. Ladies, (and some men dressed as ladies!) come from all over the north east to enjoy the banter and raise much needed funds.
FVO Family Day
Saturday also sees the first open family day at the European Union Food and Veterinary Office, Kiltale, with children's activities from bouncy castles to a petting farm, sports, face painting and a treasure hunt.
There will also be a presentation on the work at the centre and the work of the European Commission. The Family and Open Day runs from 1pm-5pm, with free entry.
Dunderry Duck Derby
On Saturday, Dunderry Duck Derby and Family Picnic, organised by Dunderry Camogie Club, will take place from 3pm to 6.30pm at the Old Mill, Bective.

Royal Meath Show, Trim
The 75th Royal Meath Show takes place in the picturesque Porchfields in Trim on Sunday.
With some 300 classes, food and craft stalls, children’s amusement area and plenty of live entertainment throughout the day, it is always a great family day out.
The 'Battle of the Breeds’ will be a major attraction in the cattle section this year, as the top five cattle from each of the breeds will compete against each other as a team.
Another new competition this year will be the Volac All-Ireland Milking Goat class with a prize fund of €300. This is the first time there will be a championship class for milking goats in Ireland.
