Junior d title for seneschalstown
Seneschalstown won the first adult championship of the year this evening at Pairc Tailteann when they proved too resilient for a battling Curraha side in the Junior D FC decider as they took the silverware with a 3-11 to 2-10 victory.
Seneschalstown had lots of experience in their ranks and it was the contribution of former Navan O'Mahonys man David Hosie that made a big difference as he sprayed the passes around the big pitch with unerring accuracy.
Seneschalstown were ahead by 2-6 to 1-5 at the interval with the goals coming from Eoin Finnegan at the start and end of the opneng half.
Curraha made a valiant bid in the second-half, but they just couldn't get the better of a determined Seneschalstown side that managed a third goal near the end when Ryan O'Dowd found the net.
Curraha scored a late penalty with Declan Hanley converting while their first goal was scored by David Coyle.
Both sides finished with 14 after Shaun Doyle and David Dunne departed shortly after the three-quarter stage.
Co Board official Jim Mullery presented the Liam Creavin Cup to Frank Sheridan.
