A winning meath team is good for the gaa
Leinster Council chairman John Horan told guests at yesterday's official opening of Dunganny GAA Centre of Excellence that there was widespread support for the project due to the calibre of people who were working behind the scenes to make certain that it was delivered.
'Leinster Council had no hesitation in supporting this project once we learned that both Noel Dempsey and Liam Mulvihill were involved in the plans to bring it to a conclusion,' he commented.
The Dublin man also set a challenge of sorts to the Meath team for next year's 2016 championship - and Meath manager Mick O'Dowd was there - when he commented that the GAA needs a successful Meath team.
'This year in our Leinster final there was a drop of 14,000 in the attendance from the previous year solely because you guys were not there competing against Dublin,' he said.
'Hopefully we will see Meath back in Croke Park taking on Dublin next July in a Leinster final,' he concluded.
