Big weekend for dunshaughlin gaa club

Saturday will be a busy one for all the members of Dunshaughlin GAA club with the possibility of silverware in the afternoon and the lanch of Black and Amber, a book about the history of the club, by GAA president Aogán Ó Fearghail at 7.30pm.

Dunshaughlin will face Dunboyne in the final of the A FL Div 1 at Pairc Tailteann on Saturday afternoon at 3,30pm and manager Kit Henry will be hoping to finish the season on a winning note.

Dunshaughlin exited the race for the Keeagn Cup a few weeks ago at the quarter-final stage against Dunboyne.

Later on Saturday evening the Dunshaughlin GAA Club will launch a history of GAA in the parish at the Black Bush Golf club.


The event begins at 7.30pm and GAA president Aogán Ó Fearghail will officially launch the book.

The book, Black and Amber: A History of the GAA in the Parish of Dunshaughlin 1886-2014, covers the GAA in the parish since 1886.
The publication comprises 700 pages with 22 chapters and 17 appendices with over 500 pictures/illustrations, most in colour.


The book contains details on Dunshaughlin, Royal Gaels (ladies), Drumree and St Martin's (under-age) also while there are sections on Dunshaughlin Handball Club, camogie, club officers down the years, team line outs for county semi-finals and finals for all clubs in the parish.

There is an extensive record of Gaelic games in the parish schools, St. Seachnall’s NS, Culmullen NS, Gaelscoil na Rithe and Dunshaughlin Community College.


The authors who compiled the original Black and Amber in 1984, Jim Gilligan and Patsy McLoughlin, have also compiled the new edition.
