Athboyrath Chairn GAA club reaches for stars
Clann Na nGael, the Athboy/Rath Chairn GAA club, has launched its 'Strictly for the Stars’ fundraiser which takes place this month. Following from the massive success of its 'Strictly Come Dancing’ held four years ago, and 'Stars in your Eyes’ held two years ago, the club has decided to join up both events to provide a combination of both dancing and singing entertainment on Fri 13th November, in Knightsbrook Hotel, Trim.
The launch night in the Darnley Lodge Hotel was compered by Brendan Smith, who introduced the line up of acts keen to strut their talents for the club. All the acts come from Athboy, Rath Chairn and the surrounding areas.
The nine couples dancing will be Amanda McGrath and Padraic McNamee; the club’s 'Fred and Ginger’ aka Pats Woods and Bridgie Sulllivan; footballer Brian Duffy and Siobhan Delea; Rath Chairns’s finest Neil Bird and Fordstown lady Emma Mangan; the Causey Farm’s Declan Clarke and Martina Kelly; Camogie leader Valarie Harmon and Padraic McElhinney from the famous Athboy men’s fashion shop; getting in at the last minute, Lily Mangan and Gerry Gough, Clann Na nGael hurling manager Gary Cole and his wife Lorraine; hurling 'Captain Fantastic’ Aaron Ennis and Trim’s A French.
The six singing acts are Joe Healy, no stranger to the stage; Garth Brooks might make an appearance in the form of Brian Mullen; Daniel O’Donnell might have a few tips for Nigel Connell; The 3 degrees all the way from Athboy Macra; , Mandy Dowd always ready to woo the audience; and Tony Fox deflecting from Kildalkey for one night only.
Nigel Connell and his band, The Madisons, provide the live music for the night. Tickets €20 are on sale now from any committee member.
