Rows at Pairc Tailteann final
Ugly scenes marred today’s A FL Div 4 decider in a repeat of the JFC final between Curraha and Dunsany at Páirc Táilteann.
While Curraha won by 0-10 to 0-9 to complete the local treble of trophies, there is likely to be a Co Board investigation into the clashes at half-time and full-time during which a Curraha official was allegedly assaulted after the final whistle.
However, there was no indication of anything untoward before the outbreak of the ugly exchanges that started at half-time.
The first-half was a tame affair, but just as referee Pat Clarke blew for the interval a melee started at midfield which prompted substitutes to rush from the bench and most of the players on the field became involved.
The situation was calmed, but it re-ignited a couple of times before the players left the field for their break.
When play resumed for the second-half the referee did not issue any cards to either side and there was no further rows.
However, after the final whistle at the end of the second-half tempers flared again with players and officials from both sides involved in unpleasant scenes before Curraha went to collect the trophy, the Jack Fitzgerald Cup for the A FL Div 4.
