Kiltale retain u-21 HC title
Kiltale retained the u-21 HC title with a thoroughly deserved victory against Kildalkey today at Páirc Táilteann in the last Meath club hurling game of the year.
Kiltale had plenty to spare at the final whistle as they won by 2-15 to 0-9, but there were a few key moments in the game that went in favour of the reigning champions.
The most notable was a miss by Kildalkey in the first-half when they were ahead by 0-5 to 0-4 and had a goal chance, but hit the side netting.
Kiltale took the hint and almost instantly conjured up two goals, one from Barry Dardis and one from Ross Ryan. That helped them to a 2-7 to 0-5 interval advantage.
There were a couple of cynical challenges from Kiltale in a 10-minute period in the second-half that earned yellow cards, but Kildalkey can have no complaints about the outcome.
Kiltale were worthy winners of what was a competitive game despite the 12-points winning margin.
Kiltale will now tuirn their attention to the Leinster Club IHC final next week at Nowlan Park.
'Everyone in Meath will be wishing Kiltale well next weekeknd' commented Hurling Committee chairman TJ Reilly during his presentation speech.
