Dunboyne face replay in Letterkenny
Dunboyne were held to a scoreless draw this afternoon by top Donegal side Letterkenny Rovers in the third round of the FAI Intermediate Cup at Blanchardstown IT.
The game was moved to the Dublin venue to avoid the possibility of an unplatable pitch at the Dunboyen venue as the game was postponed two weeks ago due to inclement weather.
This was a hard-fought contest and both sides had some good chances with Dunboyne's best falling to David Beattie and Niall Connellan in the 44th minute and 45th minute - just before half-time.
Letterkenny had a few shots from distance in the opening half, but they almost broke the deadlock soon after the resumption when Johnny Bonner surged into the Dunboyne penalty area but was denied by a good save from Stephen Trimble.
Two late chances were also created by Letterkenny with substitute Steve Okakpo, whose family reside in Navan, denied by Trimble and in the 94th minute Paul McVeigh almost got in for a late winner.
The date for the replay has to be set by the FAI.
