Meath u-21s edged out in Hastings Cup opener
Meath lost out narrowly to Cavan (0-12 to 1-13) at Dunganny in the Hastings Cup first round today. Meath trailed by 0-5 to 1-6 at the interval.
Cian Farnan made a smart save (see video clip) to a second-half Cavan penalty and Meath enjoyed their best spell of the game to forge ahead by 0-11 to 1-7 with 10 minutes remaining.
However, Cavan finished with a flourish and won the game with a late scoring-spree.
Meath and Cavan played a second game with teams made up of remaining members of each panel in a challenge.
Next Saturday Meath travel to play Roscommon at a venue outside Athlone.
