Coghlan launches Trim AC road race
Members of Trim Athletic Club were recently joined by Irish athletics legend Senator Eamonn Coghlan to help launch the Bewley’s 10 Mile Road Race.
The race, which will be the first long distance run of the New Year, will take place in Trim on Sunday 7th February. Taking in the scenic surrounds of the Meath countryside, the looped race will see over 1,000 walkers, joggers and runners, taking off and finishing in Trim.
Mark Saunders, brand director with Bewley’s said: “With many of the marathon series not starting until later in the year, this race offers the perfect opportunity to those who’ve been training throughout the winter to see what they’re made of. And it’s also a great chance for those looking to get fit and healthy in 2016 to get out for their first walk, jog or run.
“Last year, our first year, we had over 850 people taking part and we’re confident that the race will keep on growing and growing. In 2016 we hope to see even more people embrace the course and register for the run and we hope the thoughts of a nice warm cup of Bewley’s tea or coffee at the end will keep them going.”
Senator Coghlan said: “I’m delighted to be supporting the Bewley’s 10 Mile Road Race and Trim AC The course is fantastic, with fast, flat roads. It will be great for those who are maybe doing their first ever run and those runners looking to get a fast time.”
The route will have water stations at the four and seven mile mark, with a Bewley’s goodie bag waiting for finishers at the finish line.
Price for entry to the race is €21.40. Entry closing date is February 5th 2016. Enter before January 31st to receive a free pair of race branded technical running socks.
