Sophie sings on Sunday
Navan singer Sophie McDermott will be hoping to join fellow Meath singers Nigel Connell and Matheus Soares in the next stage of 'The Voice of Ireland' when she appears in the blind auditions on Sunday.
18 year-old Sophie performed on the Voice before. But not in an audition! She was one of the choir who were on stage for Gavin James and Bressie’s performance. This year she is hoping to be at the front of the stage.
First up is 26 year old fitness instructor Aaron Carroll from Cork, although he is currently living in Dublin with his fiancé. He had it tough as a youngster as the family found themselves homeless when his parents split up. Aaron has been busking and singing from a young age and has had his songs played on the radio. Will this confidence shine through for the coaches? Singing These Boots Were Made for Walking.
2fm wild card Emmet Daly is a junior doctor from Limerick who loves to sing, he graduated in 2012 and since then has had a little bit more time for singing. While at college he entered a number of singing competitions including winning Medicine's Got Talent in 2009, UCC’s Got Talent in 2010, and came third runner up in Cork’s Got Talent in 2011 Can he make it through to the next round? 19 year old Dubliner Megan Ring tried her luck in last year's competition but didn't make it through to the Battles. The vocal coach from Dublin teaches singing to young kids and she feels she has more confidence this time round. Can she make her dreams come though and get through to the next round?
Paulie O’Brien is 37 and hails from Tralee. He used to work in construction but when the recession hit he decided to go back to college, he has just finished a course in music technology and since then he has been giggling in Tralee building his experience. Singing Too Close.
Marc Egan (27) from Boyle in Roscommon had a near miss in a very bad car crash last year. Ultimately he was fine but the car was completely written off. After the crash he found out he was going to be a daddy then he was let go from his job so it's been a rollercoaster year for him. Singing Pyro by Kings of Leon.
The Doyle family have music in their bones, 19 year old Laura Doyle from Walkinstown suffers from anxiety and music is her escape so much so that she is now studying music performance! She has auditioned in talent shows before and for the Voice she would be happy with any of the coaches but really wants wither Kian or Bressie! Singing Gavin James’ For You.
Glasgow born lass Donna McDade (20) feels she is an old soul in a young body and loves the music of Doris Day, she will be performing one of her songs Secret Love. She knows singing an old song like this is a big risk will her performance be enough to impress the coaches?
19 year old Darren Sherlock from Summerhill in Dublin goes busking every day. As a child he joined the church choir, and got bullied because of this. He spent 8 years in foster care and eventually managed to return to his mother and is still living with her now. He has chosen to perform a song outside his comfort zone, Coldplay’s The Scientist.
Mayo girl Erin Rice (24) is a jazz singer and says she will find it hard to sing for such a small audience, she started performing at a very young age so has plenty of experience, singing I Got a Woman
Dervilla Egan is 20 years old and comes from Longford, she is quite shy and has decided to sing Years and Years song Shine. Will she overcome her shyness and make it through?
The last audition of the day is 20 year old Lola Ansekola who lives in Laois. She moved to Ireland 10 years ago with her family and is currently studying for a Law degree. She loves soul music and has a big voice. Singing Papa Got a Brand New Bag.
