NEFL manager David Doyle.

David Doyle ready for trip to Donegal with NEFL

David Doyle is in his first year in charge of the North East Football League (NEFL) Oscar Traynor panel and is this week preparing for a lengthy trip to Drumoghill which is between Letterkenny and Dunfanaghy for a quarter-final tie against the Donegal League.

This will be a big undertaking for the NEFL and the panel will travel on Saturday with the game scheduled for a 1pm kick-off on Sunday.

The NEFL defeated the Leinster Senior League in the first round by 3-2 and managed a 5-2 win in the second round  against Kilkenny. The NEFL defeated Wicklow in the third round with a 1-0 victory.

“This will be a big test for us, Donegal have come through a tough group that included Sligo/Leitrim, Inishowen and Cavan/Monaghan,” the manager told the Meath Chronicle.

“Donegal defeated United Churches 3-2 in the last round and they have some very good players plus they are also at home.

“It’s the last eight of the competition and there will be no easy games at this stage, but we will travel on Saturday for the game on Sunday.

“We played Newfoundwell and Drogheda Utd u-19s in the last two weeks and it was great to get the co-operation of the NEFL for those games.
“Next weekend has been left clear of fixtures for the clubs with players involved and that’s also a big help,” he concluded.
