Trim in the 1930s
This picture from the Britain from Above archive is doing the rounds on social media this morning and gives a superb view of the town of Trim in 1933.
While the landmark Trim Church spire and the ruins of Trim Castle are clear, the other main buildings in the picture incorporate the Trim Gaol, which used to stand on the grounds where Scoil Mhuire currently occupy.
The old gaol, which is to the right of the church as you look at the picture, was demolished in the 1950s, but part of the old wall remains to the rear of the girls secondary school.
If anyone has any old photos of interest from Meath towns, please feel free to post them here.
