North East exit Oscar Traynor
The North East Football League exited the FAI Oscar Traynor Trophy this afternoon following a penalty shoot-out against hosts the Donegal League.
The NEFL were ahead as early as the ninth minute when Paul Delaney and they kept that lead intact until half-time.
Donegal upped the tempo after the resumption and got back on terms on the hour mark, but no further goals were scored as the game went to extra-time and remained deadlocked.
The penalty shoot-out went to sudden death and the hosts eventually progressed on a 8-7 scoreline.
RESULTS
First round - NEFL 3, Leinster Senior League 2.
Second round - NEFL 5, Kilkenny League 2.
Third round - NEFL 1, Wicklow League 0.
Quarter-final - Donegal 1, NEFL 1, Donegal won 8-7 on penalties.
