Trevor Golden (Independent)
Trevor Golden, an IT professional from Trim, is an independent candidate with 11 years’ experience of public service, first serving as an independent member of Trim Town Council and currently a member of Meath County Council.
He was elected leas-cathaoirleach of Meath County Council in 2014 having previously been cathaoirleach of Trim Town Council. Along with his responsibilities in the Trim Municipal District, Cllr Golden was elected to the Louth-Meath Education & Training Board (LMETB), East Border Region Economic Development Forum and is a member of Meath’s Economic Strategic Planning Committee (SPC). He is also vice-chairperson of the Meath Joint Policing Committee.
As a member of LMETB, Cllr Golden is chairperson of St Fintina’s Post-Primary School, Longwood, and a board member of Boyne Community School, Trim and Athboy Community School. Using his extensive IT knowledge, he has been working to improve broadband provision through the Economic SPC, East Border Region and county council. His recent council motion called for raising of the Universal Service Obligation to ensure a basic level of broadband service. He believes the Meath West constituency needs a strong, hard-working independent voice.
