Matheus and Carl through to live rounds on The Voice
On the first night of the battle rounds in RTE’s The Voice of Ireland, two Meath men won their way into the live shows.
Matheus Soares from Navan and Carl Gillic from Kells will now perform in the live shows with the chance of winning a recording contract.
Nearly 100 acts graced the stage at The Helix over the last few weeks, hoping that their audition would be good enough to impress the coaches and the two Meath men are now in the final 30.
The first Battle on Sunday night’s show was from Team Rachel. Matheus Soares battled against Stephanie Anketell (26) from Clare. Rachel had put them together because she felt they were two of the strongest vocalists on her team and she chose to take Matheus through to the live knock outs.
Londoner Nick McDonald (41) faced Meath man Carl Gillick (25) singing Foofighter’s ‘The Pretender,’ and Kian Egan chose to keep Carl on his team.
The battle auditions continue until Sunday 13th March and the six live shows begin Sunday 20th March.
Over the next three battle rounds, three more Meath contestants will be in the running. They are Sean Byrne and Sophie McDermott, both from Navan and Athboy’s Nigel Connell.
