OMP shaping up for return to action

After a brief absence from the North East Football League, OMP Utd announced that they will be back in action at adult level next season after a long-term lease from Navan Town Council and Meath County Council was secured for the clubs traditional home at St Mary’s Park.

“This has been a long, difficult and at times a frustrating process for the club where negotiations have been ongoing for the last five years,” commented a spokesperson.

“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the residents of St Mary’s Park, St Oliver’s Cottages, Belcourt and Pat Quinn, our neighbours, Blackcastle Shopping Centre and Feargal Kelly (St Oliver Plunketts School), we thank you all for your support in this process.

“We would like to thank Navan Town Council and Meath County Council especially the late Shane Donnelly and Alan Rogers for their assistance and all the local council representatives who have supported this cause.

“We are currently putting together plans and hope to have planning application lodged as soon as possible,” concluded the spokesperson.

OMP Utd was established in 1981 and was a prominent member of the Meath & District League until a decision was made two seasons ago not to affiliate an adult team.

However, the under-age section of the club has continued to operate successfully and club officials believe that will lead to the long-term
viability and success of the club.
