Final ticket for Navan Cosmos
Navan Cosmos advanced to the final of the Kilmessan Shield with a 3-1 victory in tonight's semi-final against Trim Celtic at the MDL where referee Pat Henry produced two red cards.
Cosmos were ahead by 1-0 at the interval and merited that advantage, but the balance of the game swung their way completely eight minutes in the second-half when Trim Celtic lost goalie Ian Telford for the 'professional' foul after he dragged down Conor Walsh.
Aaron Ryan took over between the posts and Derek Donohoe was withdrawn - Donal Callan converted the resultabnt penalty to make it 2-0.
It got worse for Trim Celtic 60 seconds later when Eoin O'Connor collected a red card following a tackle.
However, the nine men displayed great determination and got back into contention when they forced an own goal off Cosmos defender Gary O'Dowd.
Trim could also have had a penalty but it wasn't awarded although at the other end Cosmos earned another penalty with seven minutes remaining - Callan converted again.
Cosmos will play Newfoundwell in the final - Newfoundwell defeated Kingscourt 2-0 in their semi-final last week.
This is the third Cosmos game I have attended this year and it's the third time they have scored four goals - they won the other two games by 4-0 scorelines, but still managed four goals tonight in the 3-1 victory.
