To relegate or not to relegate - delegates keep talking
There was a lively discussion at last night’s Co Board meeting at Dunganny where the format for the 2016 club championships was discussed with a proposal put forward by Slane delegate Peter Mooney that the decision from the January meeting should be rescinded.
Mooney was speaking on behalf of an ad hoc committee that convened a meeting under the chairmanship of Paddy McConnell (Bective).
Arising out of that meeting, the matter was discussed at the February meeting of the Co Board with unanimous support from clubs to re-visit the original decision.
Peter O’Halloran, who chaired the meeting in his capacity as vice-chairman, suggested that the Co Board could re-visit the matter provided there was an official submission from Slane.
It was agreed, that if the proposal from Slane was formally submitted, that the clubs would be notified and a special meeting would be convened.
The Slane delegate indicated that a formal submission would be made this week by his club.
A date was not set, but it is likely that the meeting will take place before the start of the football championships with Monday 22nd March at Dunganny a likely date.
