McNamara's maiden victory
There was plenty of corks popping around Kells on Tuesday evening with the news that local man Rory McNamara had claimed his first Professional Golf title, the Tony Jacklin Open in Morocco.
McNamara, a former Gaelic footballer with Drumbaragh Emmets, shot a course record 63 to win the title by one shot and earn his maiden victory as a professional.
McNamara turned pro in 2014 after winning numerous amateur titles and also represented Ireland at Youth level.
The Kells man shot 68 and 69 in the first two rounds and scored a brilliant round 63 with an eagle and seven birdies on the final day of the tournament to finish clear of the field.
