Stamullen martial arts instructor's autobiography

When we think of world-class martial artists, we tend to think that the Chinese and Japanese have that market cornered. But it is not always the case. Sometimes, we have world-class people right on our doorstep.

Local martial arts instructor, Seamus O'Dowd, is very much in demand all over the world for his expertise in Karate, Bo-Jutsu (stick fighting) and T'ai Chi. He visits up to ten countries per year, teaching seminars and sharing his knowledge and experience. He has also produced two very successful instructional DVDs, one on Bo-Jutsu and the other on T-ai Chi.

Now he has just released his autobiography or, as he calls it, the first half of his autobiography.

'A Karate Story - Thirty Years in the Making' takes the reader through Sensei Seamus' first thirty years of martial arts training, from complete novice walking into his first karate class, to attaining the Master rank of 6th Dan black belt in Japan. Along the way, we learn a little bit about what it takes to succeed in martial arts, while he entertains us with stories of his experiences training all over the world.

At 46, Sensei Seamus is quite young to write an autobiography. Having trained for thirty years so far, he hopes that he may get to train for another thirty years, and therefore this book is only half of his story!

If the second half is anything as interesting as the first half, it will be worth waiting for!

Seamus O'Dowd teaches Karate, T'ai Chi and self-defence classes in Stamullen,  and in Finglas in Dublin. He can be contacted at 085-2804000 or at seamusodowd@hotmail.com.
