Funeral of Rory Smith tomorrow
The motorcyclist who tragically lost his life while taking part in a charity poker run near Dunboyne on Sunday will be laid to rest tomorrow.
Rory Smith (45) who was originally from Knowth, Slane, but had been living in Drogheda, died when his motorcycle was in collision with a truck on Sunday, 27th March on the Maynooth-Dunboyne Road, about three miles from Dunboyne.
Mr Smith’s remains will arrive at Monknewtown Church at 7pm this evening. Funeral Mass will take place at 11am tomorrow (Friday), followed by burial at Dowth Cemetery.
Mr Smith is survived by his father Jim, fiancée Sandra, Michaela, brothers Edward and Brendan, sister-in-law Lorraine, nieces Molly, Clara, Caitlin, nephew Evan, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.
There was widespread shock and sadness following the death of the popular local man who had been taking part in a charity motorbike poker run for SOSAD. The annual fundraiser had left from the Boyne Valley Inn in Slane, earlier that day.
