'Guns at Easter' for Ratoath showing
Kells Musical Society presents its original new musical ‘Guns at Easter’ in The Veune Theatre, Ratoath, on Saturday 16th April at 8pm. Produced to commemorate the centenary of the Easter Rising 1916, this musical is supported by Meath County Council.
‘Guns at Easter’ is a full length musical by writer, composer and director John Grant depicting the events leading up to the Rising and the events of Easter week up to the executions of the leaders.
The songs are very striking and moving in this Irish musical with a cast of 38. The story is true reflection of the leader’s stories and is a factual account of the main participants in the rising. The story also reflects on the social injustice in Dublin at the time of the Rising. It also has a song from the children who were killed in rising. The cast deliver the facts about the rising through songs, great characters, solid script, wonderful scenes, monologues and narration making the musical production a truly inclusive and widespread historical character filled family production. The musical ‘Guns at Easter’ is a celebration of the rising of 1916 and will serve as an historical and accurate spectacular and innovative theatrical production.
