Meath family's delight as they claim Lotto win

A couple from Meath claimed €125,440 after they matched five numbers and the bonus on last Saturday’s (16th April) Lotto draw.

Their winning ticket was a €15 Quick Pick play which was bought at the Ashbourne Gala store in Ashbourne.

The winning couple from County Meath – who also wish to remain anonymous - say they will take some time before deciding how to spend their big win. They do, however, have immediate plans to treat close friends and family and to pay some bills.

Speaking about the couple's win, the man said: 'I checked my ticket at a Lotto scanning machine at a petrol station and I saw the message to contact the National Lottery headquarters. I went back to my car and checked my numbers on the National Lottery website on my phone and I still couldn't believe it. I actually had to call over a taxi driver who double-checked the numbers for me.

'When I got home, I gathered my wife and four children for a family meeting and told them about our win. This will take a lot of the financial pressure off for us and give us the opportunity to give our children a great start in life in terms of their college education,' he said.
