Meath athlete in excellent form
Cushinstown athlete Shannon Sheehy travelled to Somerset in England this weekend aiming to achieve the qualifing standard set by Irish Athletics in the under-18 Heptathlon which comprises seven events over a tough two days.
The points standard was 4,800 and the talented Meath athlete scored a solid 5,041 points.
She started with the 100m hurdle which saw her run a good of 14.5 seconds considering she was running into a -2.9 headwind!
Next was the high jump where she jumped 1.64m, a bit off her personal best of 1.72.
In the shot her throw was a new personal best of 11.62 and the last event of the first day was the 200m and she ran 25.88 seconds.
The second day started with the long jump 5.43,the javelin 33.48 and the last event was the 800m, she ran that in two minutes and 30 seconds.
Shannon should be heading to Tenerife in June where she will be aiming to better her score from this weekend
