Sensational victory for Meath in London
Meath recorded a sensational 2-17 to 1-16 victory over London at Ruislip this afternoon in the second round (quarter-final) of the Christy Ring Cup and will now join Antrim directly in the last four of the competition.
The semi-finals will be played on Saturday 21st May with the outstanding quarter-finals set for next weekend.
London and Roscommon will go into those quarter-finals on one side of the draw and will face either Down or Kildare who both won the losers' section games yesterday against Derry and Wicklow respectively.
Today at Ruislip Meath trailed by two points (1-8 to 1-10) at half-time after playing against the wind. Adam Gannon scored the goal close to the interval.
London forged further ahead in the second-half and were 1-15 to 1-10 in front with 20 minutes remaining.
However, Meath kept sending over the points and Gavin McGowan's late goal gave them a 2-15 to 1-16 advantage before they added a couple of late point for a morale-boosting victory.
Meath travelled to London last night and will return this evening at approx 8.30pm.
The win means now that they have time to prepare for the semi-finals and will also avoid the possibility of facing Antrim in the last four.
