Meath to face Kildare in Christy Ring Cup semi-final

Meath hurling manager Martin Ennis will be looking forward to the semi-final of the Christy Ring Cup with his team set to face Kildare in the last four of the competition on Saturday 21st May.

The 2014 Christy Ring Cup champions Kildare competed at a higher level in the NHL 2A this year and managed to retain their status.

The Lilywhites earned their place in the last four with a 1-17 to 0-15 victory over London at Newbridge yesterday.

However, last year they were hammered by Kerry in the last four when they lost by 0-9 to 6-27 - a Kerry team that struggled to beath Meath by two points in an earlier round.

Meath played Kildare twice last year and lost on both occasions.

They faltered in the NHL Div 2B final at Mullingar and lost by five points, 0-17 to 0-22, and they also lost in the Christy Ring Cup at Trim by 2-18 to 3-23.

If Meath can find a win against Kildare they will face either Antrim or Down in the final.

Down lost the NHL Div 2B final this year to Armagh while 2006 Christy Ring Cup champions Antrim returned to the second tier after losing last year’s promotion/relegation play-off against Kerry.

Antrim will tackle Ulster rivals Down in the last four after the Mournemen negotiated Roscommon at Ballycran yesterday with a 1-14 to 1-7 victory.

Derry will play Wicklow in a relegation play-off.

The games are scheduled to take place on Saturday 21st May

The final is scheduled for Croke Park on Saturday 4th June.
