New Meath rose is crowned

Treasa Sheridan from Kilmessan has been chosen as the Meath Rose for 2016, taking over the crown from last year’s winner Elysha Brennan.
The Meath Rose Centre held a very successful selection event on Saturday, 21st May in the Knightsbrook Hotel Spa and Golf Resort, Trim.
Throughout the day, 17 ladies from all areas of Meath partook in a rigorous individual and group interview process, culminating in an on stage interview by MC for the night, LMFM’s Gerry Kelly.
All entrants, who were proudly supported by their many family members and friends, were interviewed by Gerry on their background, their aspirations and their various talents.
In attendance was the current Meath Rose and International Rose of Tralee Elysha Brennan along with CEO of the International Rose of Tralee Festival – Mr Anthony O’Gara.
The newly crowned Cavan Rose Lisa Reilly and Donegal Rose Zoe McGettigan also attended the event.
Throughout the interviews on the night, it was clear that these young ladies all had their own stories to tell and were fantastic ambassadors within their local communities.
After much deliberation by the judges, Mr Grant Hourigan, 2007 Limerick Rose Melanie Ardiff and 2011 Kilkenny Rose and fashion blogger Sinead De Butler, Kilmessan native Treasa Sheridan was crowned as the 2016 Meath Rose and will now go forward to the International Rose of Tralee festival in August.
Treasa is a hotel assistant manager in Trim and a keen GAA player who plays gaelic football with Dunsany and camogie with Kilmessan.
She described being chosen as the Meath Rose 2016 as a “dream come true” and dedicated her chosen song on the night 'Tennessee Waltz’ to her father who recently passed away.
